A Joyful Day of Celebration: St Philip Neri Ministry Expo

On 22nd September, the St. Philip Neri community came together to celebrate three wonderful events: our SPN Family Mass, the Confirmation cake-cutting ceremony, and the vibrant Ministry Expo. With over 200 participants joining us, it was a day full of faith, joy, and connection. We were also honored to welcome the MP for Willoughby, Tim James, who took part in the festivities.

Under the beautiful weather, ministry stalls were set up across the school grounds, with ministry leads going above and beyond to showcase their work. The Catechist Ministry displayed teaching materials alongside a charming Noah’s Ark with animal toys. Children’s Liturgy offered cute bookmarks and treats, while Church Upkeep added a touch of beauty with vases and flowers. Hospitality brought festive energy with a sun umbrella, and all the stalls were prepared well before Mass began.

The Family Mass was truly special. The church was full, with some parishioners sitting upstairs. Over 30 children attended Children’s Liturgy in the parish hall, engaging with gospel activities like coloring, mazes, and puzzles. The SPN Choir, accompanied by talented musicians on guitar, violin, and piano, led the congregation in singing, with “My Lighthouse” prompting some parishioners to dance! Our Church Upkeep Ministry leader, shared her inspiring serving story, setting the stage for the Ministry Expo and a lively upgraded morning tea session.

As party music played, children excitedly gathered at the hospitality counter for the cake-cutting ceremony, while parishioners walked around, chatting with ministry leads and learning about the various ways they could get involved. The SPN community truly embodied the joyful spirit of St. Philip Neri—connecting, celebrating, and having fun together.

We’re so grateful for everyone who joined us and made the day special. We look forward to strengthening our community and sharing many more joyful moments together!
