RCIA (Adult Baptism)

Updated: Oct 3

  • Are you thinking about becoming Catholic?

  • Do you want to learn more about the Catholic faith?

  • Have you been baptised but never confirmed or received Holy Communion?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the journey through which adults are welcomed into the Catholic Church. At Lower North Shore Parish, we walk this path together in a warm and supportive environment where questions are welcome and faith is gently nurtured.

The RCIA preparation process varies depending on circumstances including your age, whether you have previously been baptised, and previously educated in the Catholic faith.

The sacraments are celebrated each year at the Easter Vigil or at other times organised by the Parish Priest and the candidate. Reception into Full Communion with the Catholic Church is celebrated by arrangement; please contact our Parish Priest for further information. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults provides for all sacraments of initiation into the Catholic Church for adults and children who have reached the age of discernment.

Who is RCIA for?

  • Adults who are not baptised and wish to become Catholic.

  • Baptised Christians from other denominations who wish to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church.

  • Baptised Catholics who have not yet received First Communion or Confirmation.

What can I expect?

Our RCIA program involves:

  • Weekly gatherings with scripture reflection, faith-sharing, and teaching on Catholic beliefs and practices.

  • Community prayer and support.

  • Participation in key moments of the liturgical year (especially during Lent and Easter).

  • Ongoing spiritual accompaniment and friendship.

Whether you're just curious, seeking answers, or ready to take the next step, we invite you to journey with us.

When and Where?

The RCIA group typically meets weekly from September through to Easter at a parish location. We also welcome inquiries at any time of the year.
