Baptism

Children's initiation begins with the Rite of Baptism for Children

This is often undertaken when the child is an infant, but it can be undertaken at a later stage up to the age of discernment. Special arrangements are made for children who are older than the normal age for children's confirmation and first communion (school year 3) but not yet reached the age of discernment. Baptisms may be celebrated at one of our scheduled ceremonies or during Mass on a nominated Sunday.

Parents wishing to have their child/children baptised in our Parish must attend, prior to the Baptism a Compulsory Baptism Preparation Session and a Baptism Presentation Mass.

  •  Baptism Preparation Session which you will need to book to attend.  Preparation sessions are held on the 1st Friday of the Month at 11am, 2nd Thursday of the month at 7pm, 3rd Friday of the month at 11am and the 4th Thursday of the month at 7pm. You will choose one of these sessions to attend in the Parish Office (information on the form below).

  • Baptism Presentation Mass which you will need to attend the weekend prior to your child being baptised.

For adult baptism, please visit here for further information.

The Parish offers ongoing support to parents during the intervening years between Baptism and the other Sacraments of Initiation.

Adults wishing to be baptised participate in our Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) program. This process takes 6 -12 months.
