LNS Young Adults Set Ablaze by the Holy Spirit

Sunday, 24 May 2026, will long remain in our hearts. Despite the cold weather, steady rain, and many apologies from members who were unable to attend, the Holy Spirit had other plans. Around 22 young adults gathered at St. Leonard’s Church Hall, Naremburn, after the 6:00 pm Mass, and what unfolded was a beautiful reminder that when people come together with open hearts, God always shows up.
Our Pentecost-themed Young Adult Formation Session carried the powerful theme: “From Fear to Fire: Living in the Power of the Holy Spirit.” The evening was not merely another gathering; it became a genuine encounter with God.
The night began with fellowship and dinner, creating a warm atmosphere where friendships deepened and new connections were formed. There was laughter, conversation, and a growing sense that something special was unfolding.
The formal session opened with prayer and worship, inviting the Holy Spirit into our midst. Together we prayed: “Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.” That prayer would become the heartbeat of the evening.
The Formation Talk on “Pentecost - The Birthday of the Church” challenged our young adults to recognise that the same Spirit who transformed fearful disciples into courageous witnesses continues to work in us today.
Small group discussions followed, where participants reflected honestly on where they most needed the Holy Spirit in their lives, what gifts they desired, and how young Catholics can bring hope to today’s world. The openness and sincerity shared within the groups were deeply moving.
A particularly meaningful moment came during the Prayer Walk, where participants journeyed through stations of Thanksgiving, Healing, Discernment, and Mission. In silence and prayer, many encountered God personally.
The evening concluded with a commitment activity, inviting everyone to respond to the Holy Spirit’s invitation by writing one concrete commitment for the coming year.
Pentecost reminds us that the Holy Spirit still renews, still heals, still calls, and still sends.
Last Sunday, despite rain and reduced numbers, our LNS Young Adults proved something important: the fire of the Holy Spirit does not depend on numbers,
it depends on hearts willing to say “yes” to God.
May this be only the beginning. Come, Holy Spirit!
