A Joyful Celebration of Faith and Love
On Sunday, 14th September 2025, our Lower North Shore Parish joyfully celebrated the First Holy Communion of 106 Sacramental Children, a sacred and memorable step in their journey of faith.

Held on the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, the Mass served as a powerful reminder of Christ’s ultimate love and sacrifice. It was a truly beautiful celebration of the Eucharist, held at St Leonard’s Church, surrounded by the love and support of families, friends, and our parish community.

Fr. Vincent Trung Nguyen, Fr. Roger Delmonte, and Fr. Stephen Wayoyi concelebrated the Mass, joined by Deacon Peter McCulloch.

During his homily, Deacon Peter offered these meaningful words: “On the Cross, Jesus shows His love to us. In the Eucharist, Jesus gives His love to us.” The children gladly repeated this message with joy and understanding, marking the deep significance of receiving the Body of Christ for the first time.

As Fr. Vincent Nguyen lifted the Body of Christ during the Consecration, a profound and holy silence embraced the church. The children gazed in awe and wonder, their eyes fixed on the Sacred Host, believing with pure, childlike faith that Jesus was truly present before them, the same Lord they had come to love in prayer, and whom they would now receive joyfully for the very first time.

St Leonard’s Church was filled with faithful family, friends, and parishioners, all gathered in loving support as the children received the Body of Christ for the very first time.

We invite our whole community to continue praying for these young hearts, that their love for Jesus will grow stronger each day, rooted in faith and nurtured by the grace of the Eucharist.

A special thank you to our Sacramental Coordinator, Jade Tran, for her dedicated work in preparing the children, and for collaborating so closely with the parents and our clergy to ensure this Sacrament was celebrated with reverence, joy, and love.
