A Beautiful Evening of Prayer: LNS Parish Holy Hour at St. Leonard’s

On Tuesday evening at 7:30pm, parishioners from across our three LNS churches gathered at St. Leonard’s Church, Naremburn for our monthly Holy Hour, held every second Tuesday of the month. It was a truly beautiful and grace-filled evening that reminded us how powerful shared prayer can be.

From the moment people stepped into the church, many felt immediately drawn into prayer. The atmosphere inside was strikingly peaceful. Soft candle decorations and the gentle lighting created a sacred ambiance. It felt as if we were slowly leaving behind the noise and busyness of the outside world, entering instead into a sacred space of stillness where the heart could rest in God.

As Fr. Roger exposed the Blessed Sacrament, assisted by Alec Petesic as altar server, the opening music gently filled the church. The congregation knelt in silence and adoration before the Lord. There was a deep sense of reverence in that moment, a sacred silence that seemed to embrace everyone present.

Throughout the hour, this silence with the Lord was beautifully punctuated by prayer, music, and Scripture. The songs and prayers, thoughtfully prepared by Lynda Lee, helped guide the community into deeper reflection. The readings were proclaimed with great care by Melissa, Rosemary Wood, and Lesha Holukbo, and their voices carried the Word of God into the hearts of those gathered.

Each reading and reflection drew people further into meditation, allowing the quiet presence of Christ in the Eucharist to become the centre of the evening. It was one of those moments when time seemed to slow down, and prayer came naturally.

The Holy Hour concluded with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament and a beautiful song of blessing. As the final notes faded, many parishioners remarked on how moving and solemn the evening had been. Several commented on how beautiful the church felt at night, when the outside world becomes quieter and the gentle sound of passing cars becomes only a distant background.

But the evening did not end there. After the Holy Hour, parishioners gathered for tea, coffee, sweets, and biscuits. People lingered, chatting warmly, welcoming new faces, and reconnecting with friends. Laughter and conversation filled the parish hall as the night slowly drew to a close.

Moments like this remind us that prayer not only draws us closer to God, it also draws us closer to one another. The evening became not just a time of adoration, but a beautiful experience of community and fellowship.

Truly, it was a grace-filled night for LNS Parish, a time of quiet prayer, sacred music, and joyful community. We look forward to welcoming even more parishioners at our next Holy Hour at St. Leonard’s Church, every second Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm.

All are warmly invited to come and spend an hour with the Lord. 🙏
